Days 2-4: Illinois and Nebraska
After leaving Lake Altoona we headed for Illinois for one night. The campground was nice. Jodi and I walked over to a local cemetery. I was in awe of the number of military graves. What was even more inspiring was the number of WW I and Spanish American vets interred there. There were also a number of WW II vets interred including several who were KIA. I paid my respects. On day three we headed to Indian Cave Nebraska. What a beautiful campground on the Missouri river. The night we arrived they were having a fish fry and fireworks. After getting a good nights sleep we got up the next morning and went on a quick ride. We stopped first at the cemetery with the graves of the original settlers of the area. We then headed over to the cave to see the ancient Indian pictographs. Unfortunately, due to the overgrowth, and I suspect the modern idiots who carved their names into the rock, we couldn't really see any. We then rode up to the old schoolhouse and ...
