Beyond the RV: Motorcycles, Cruises, and Caribbean Adventures
Not Just RV Life
Before anyone thinks that Jodi and I only do RV trips—let me set the record straight. We love mixing it up.
February: A Ride to Micanopy
In early February, we took a motorcycle ride to Micanopy, FL, a charming little town tucked off the beaten path. It’s rich in history and filled with great antique shops—a perfect day trip destination.
Late February: Caribbean Cruise Adventures
Later that month, we joined our friends Kim and Deyo for a two-week back-to-back cruise aboard Carnival Cruise Lines, departing from Miami.
🇯🇲 Jamaica
Our first stop was Jamaica. It was vibrant and full of character—but let’s just say the air was... aromatic. The smell of pot was everywhere. We didn’t explore much, and by the time we got back onboard, we were pretty sure we had a contact high.
🐢 Cayman Islands
Next up: the Cayman Islands. Absolutely stunning. We visited the Cayman Turtle Center, where they care for injured turtles and work to repopulate the species. They breed various types of sea turtles and release them into the wild once they reach a certain size. Incredible work and a highlight of the trip.
🇲🇽 Cozumel, Mexico
From there, we sailed to Cozumel, Mexico. We walked around the port area, grabbed lunch, and took it easy. We didn’t venture far, but it was a relaxing stop.
Second Leg: The ABC Islands
After Cozumel, we returned to Miami to begin the second leg of our journey—visiting the ABC Islands: Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire.
🌵 Aruba
In Aruba, we took an off-road tour of the island. I wish I could remember our guide’s name—it was a blast. But wow, it was HOT HOT HOT!
🏛️ Curacao
Next was Curacao, where we strolled through the city, admired the historic architecture, and did a little shopping before heading back to the ship.
🧂 Bonaire
In Bonaire, we had lunch and took a tour around the island. We saw salt mines and old slave houses still standing. It was fascinating to learn how they “farm” salt from the ocean. After the tour, we returned to the ship and spent the next couple of days at sea before docking back in Miami.
