Lake Lanier and North Carolina

Jodi's niece was getting married in in mid-June in North Georgia and since we were already halfway there, we decided to go the rest of the way to North Carolina to see Jodi's mom.

We left out on Thursday with me driving the RV and Jodi following in the car. We had decided not to tow the bike since we were going to have to get dressed up for the wedding and riding the bike wouldn't have been a good idea. It was an easy drive with me leaving it on cruise control at 70mph for the majority of the trip. However, once we hit Atlanta at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, it took us almost 3 hours to drive the last forty miles or so to the campsite.

What a sexy backside

Jodi books our campsites and as usual she did an amazing job getting us a great site at Shoal Creek Campground. We were lake side with a great view of the lake and fairly quiet.  We probably wouldn't book this site again, but site 6 next to it was nice.

After we got in and got set up, we decided to take a walk to stretch our legs. As we walked along the loop we were on, the fireflies lit up. Jodi was like a little girl giggling at them. I love to hear her laugh and see her smile and all I could do was just shake my head. After we got back I set up our new Starlink roaming satellite system for internet. I was a little worried since I didn't think we had a very clear view of the sky. However, much to my surprise we were getting download speeds of 150mbs or better.

Friday we worked until we headed out to meet friends for dinner at a cute little mexican place.

Saturday was busy. After getting up we had to go to the hairdressers for Jodi to get her hair done and then we headed over to her sister's hotel room to change for the wedding. From there we headed to the wedding venue getting there about forty-five minutes before the wedding was due to start. The wedding and reception were held at The Tate House and the venue was beautiful. But my attention was focused on Jodi. I'll be the first to admit I got very lucky when I found her and luckier still that she's stuck with me through thick-and-thin. She is absolutely beautiful and makes me happy beyond belief....

Look at that beautiful smile!!!
How did I get so lucky?

Sunday, we got up early and headed off to meet friends again for breakfast at Brooklyn Bagel. Fortunately, our friends were there and seated so we didn't have to wait for a table. Jodi got an everything bagel and I got a breakfast bagel sandwich. One of the things they do is if you are a first timer, they will hand you a bag of assorted fresh bagels. We ended up with a bag of eight and oh how good they smelled.

After breakfast we decided to go antique/estate sale shopping. We hit the first one and Jodi found an antique payphone pay box. So, we grabbed it and I managed to score some shotgun shells. At the next one, we found a casserole dish and lawnmower blades. The third stop was interesting to say the least. It wasn't so much an estate sale as it was a junk flea market. Everything was piled on top of everything else and it felt very claustrophobic. While they had some interesting stuff, we left out feeling dirty and didn't buy anything. Our last stop before we headed back to the campsite to get cleaned up for dinner with friends turned out to be at a closed day care facility. To be honest it was a little creepy. When you walked in there were little jackets hanging up and lunch boxes and kids toys in cubbies. It was like the kids had just left and never came back. Which is exactly what happened. It turned out to be our biggest haul. We ended up getting a TV for my office, some RING video cams, an almost new InstaPot, some air purifiers with replacement filters and a couple of other little things.

That night we met up with David and Barbara for dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Always a great time for a good meal with friends.

Monday, we headed four hours north to Marion, NC to stay at Tom Johnson Campground. Nice campground on a little river. This is the Camping World Institute where they train their techs. The camp is split into two sections, the one we stayed in with hardtop sites and the other across the road on grass. They have a little cafe and throughout the year they do different things such as concerts a big fourth of July celebration etc. During the day Jodi would spend with her mom and dad and then after five she'd come pick me up and we'd head back to her mom's for dinner. It was pretty comfortable and fairly relaxing, even if I worked and Jodi painted her mom's living room.

Saturday, we headed out early for home. What should have been a ten-to-twelve-hour drive took us closer to seventeen. Traffic on I95 was horrendous. We left about 7am and didn't get home until after midnight.
